Firecracker 5k - July 4, 2015
Join us Saturday, July 4, 2015, for the 22nd Annual Firecracker 5k Run to provide scholarships for some of our North Buncombe students planning to attend a college or technical school.
Course
The course begins at PNC Bank on Weaverville Boulevard, turns right onto Main Street and continues through residential neighborhoods and parts of beautiful downtown Weaverville, concluding back at PNC Bank.
When and Where
Saturday, July 4, 2015
Race Start: 8 a.m.
PNC Bank, 81 Weaver Blvd, Weaverville, NC
Race packets can be picked up beginning around 7 a.m. on the day of the race.
From North of Weaverville
Take 19-23 South/Future I-26 East to Exit 19 (US 25/70). Turn left at stoplight onto Weaver Boulevard and go 0.4 miles. PNC Bank will be on your left.
From South of Weaverville
Take 19-23 North/Future I-26 West to Exit 19B. At top of exit ramp turn right onto Weaver Boulevard and go 0.2 miles. PNC Bank will be on your left.
Parking
Free parking is available at the old Food Lion, Roses, or Weaverville Crossing Plaza lots.
Entry fee is $25 through June 20, 2015, and $30 after June 20, 2015. Note: Online and mail-in registration ends 48 hours before the race. After this time, we accept walk-up runners on race day.
Awards
Each participant who pre-registers by June 21 will receive a specially designed, 100% cotton T-shirt. 5K awards will be presented to overall Male and Female finishers, and to the top three Males and Females in each of the following age groups: 12 and under, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 and over.
Safety
For the safety of all runners no dogs, no strollers, no baby joggers, no bikes, no in-line skates, no roller skates, and no wheeled vehicles will be allowed on-course. In accordance with RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) guidelines, the use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. Runner safety has always been, and will continue to be, a top priority for our event. Please be mindful of the other participants and respect the race personnel to ensure a safe and enjoyable race for everyone.
