Prior to operating Fleet Feet Sports Asheville, Michael (a Morganton native) and Hannah (Hilton Head Island) met in the mid 2000's at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. Life took them in different directions after college, but they reconnected while Michael was attending Charleston Law and Hannah was living in Colorado. The two continued to keep in touch over the years, and eventually their friendship morphed into a relationship. In mid 2012, Hannah had the opportunity to live in Whitefish, Montana for a year. As the relationship between the two grew stronger, it was clear that living two time zones apart just wasn't much fun. In October 2013, Hannah decided it was officially time to return to the Carolinas, where they both grew up. Michael flew out to Montana (with a one way flight, btw) where he ran Le Grizz (a 50 miler)- that's a story for another time- and about a week later they packed up Hannah's SUV and started the roadtrip of a lifetime. Five days and countless states later, they crossed the North Carolina state line. Michael began working at Fleet Feet in Hickory, NC near the end of 2013. Hannah continued working as a Sales Consultant for Verizon Wireless in Greenville, SC. Her initial Fleet Feet experience came from the other side of the fit bench, as a customer. She joined a 10k training program then after completing a 10k, she joined the half marathon training program. Following those two training programs, she mentored a couple seasons of No Boundaries. Once again though, long distance (even 2 hours) between the two needed to be remedied. February 2016, Hannah hung up her Verizon Wireless hat and moved to join Michael at Fleet Feet in Hickory. In May 2016 they moved to Carrboro, North Carolina to begin the Leadership Development Program with Fleet Feet Sports Development Company. In October 2016, the two not only got engaged but they also got the call they had been waiting for; Fleet Feet Asheville was in need of new operating partners, and they were excited to fill that roll. They're putting down roots in Asheville and said I Do on October 7th, 2017.
Whether you are a local runner or just visiting the Asheville area, they would love it if you stopped in the shop to say hello!
