We were excited to have Matt Tegenkamp come by the shop Tuesday, July 7th to talk with customers about his journey from his high school running days through his current training for the upcoming Summer Olympics!
Matt represented the United States in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic games and set the American record in the two-mile run at the Prefontaine Classic with a time of 8:07.07, breaking the existing record by more than four seconds. In 2009, “Teg” became the fifth fasted American of all time by breaking the 13 minute barrier in the 5000 meters with his PR of 12:58.56. Matt is sponsored by Nike and was in Asheville sharing his passion for running with middle school and high school students at the Smokey Mountain Running Camp.
